Sarah Tancred's work questions the socially constructed gender role of those who identify as women and its historical evolution over time in American society. She draws inspiration from advertising, prescriptive literature and Americana, utilizing everyday objects that symbolize invisible labor as they relate to the domestic realm.
Sarah earned an MFA with a Graduate Certificate in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies from the University of Montana. She has shown her work nationally at venues including The Clay Studio of Philadelphia, Pacific Northwest College of Art, the North Dakota Museum of Art and the Morean Arts Center. Her artist residencies include the Morean Center for Clay, Red Lodge Clay Center, North Dakota State University, and Union Project.
Sarah is a studio artist and educator based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
